Just would like to hear some positives and negatives about having a sand bottom. I currently have a 55 gallon tank with a catfish, bass, and green sunfish. Personally I think that the sand bottom will look slicker then the gravel and thats why I want it. I also would like to know how maintenance and cleaning of the sand is. Thanks

Also keen to hear responses to this. Not to hijack thread but Would a bigger gain size help with the sand getting in filter issue?? If so what size do people use??
A lot of people use Pool Filter Sand (PFS) for that very reason the grain is larger and therfore heavier.

I used both PFS and quickcrete all purpose sand from lowes or depo.both are cheap, bigger grains.I prefer a darker color.
