Well long story short a lfs had a fire and i finally got my hands on this tank for a very good price :). It is solely for my pair of coral cats. Female is 22" and the male is 20". Im hoping this is appropriate for them to breed in as it is 10'x3' and no corners of course. They are currently in a 7'x24" footprint so they will be happy happy in a month or so when its ready.

monster tank.

may i ask how much you paid?
$1500....had to cash in some savings bonds, but i knew it was a deal of a lifetime and perfect for my sharks. I usually buy broken acrylic tanks and repair them so this was still a bit much for my pocketbook. I have 8 acrylic 200-400gals i got for under $600 but bit the bullet on this one.

Advice? Is it better to use some of the old water from the 200gal there in to get this tank going or should i just start with new water and let it cycle for a month or two? I am in no hurry to get them in it as they are doing and eating well now in current conditions. I just want to ensure i move them properly. I acclimated this pair for 3-4hrs when i got them so i think im good on that, just curious as to the best way to make the water in the new tank match the old as closely as possible. Probably just worrying too much as i have 8 salt tanks running now and have moved many fish in 15yrs, but i do try my best to care for my animals and put them first before me lol.... thanks!

Nice.

I'd do a little of both - use old water and some of the sand/rock/filter media to start seeding the tank a little, but don't rush it too much. Just keep an eye on the ammonia as it builds up and breaks down into the rest of the nitrogen cycles.

Thankyou Zoodiver! Thats exactly what ill do then. I already have most of the stand welded up. Hardest part is tearing out my door jam to get the tank in lol....Its 31.5" tall so even with the door jam out its going to be close. Pics of the stand to come tonight, both frames are complete so its time to put the legs on and get er up. Really hoping these guys breed for me once there in larger quarters (i'll be scabbing in a 40-100gal for the pups from the start just incase). How large do they need to be to start producing? Ive read they reach sexual maturity aroung 20" but the female even at 22" doesnt look big enough to pop out an egg. I have also only seen Bamboo eggs in person so i'd imagine the AM's would be smaller. Is there any other special supplements i should be adding to their food to intice breeding? They currently eat prepared foods soaked in vita-chem and also vita-zu2 from mazuri inside shrimp.
