I have two jewel cichlids in my 80g community tank. I noticed yesterday they have a lot of eggs on my large piece of bogwood. I was very surprised as I thought I had two females but I'm starting to think I may have got that wrong. One is just over 3" and the other is just over 2.5. They have been taking turns guarding and fanning the eggs and while the small one guards the eggs the larger one is digging a whole between two plants. The eggs are a light yellow colour almost transparent and seem to have little dots in them.
I'm very excited but I go on holiday tomorrow to Cuba for two weeks. I have someone staying at my house to feed the fish and my dog I just wish they did this after I got back so I could watch.
