Driftwood problem..

Recently i got a piece of driftwood that haven't been used for a long time... i washed it a couple of times and kept another couple of weeks before putting in my tank... but now the water have turned brownish colour.. how to solve this..???

Another method if its a really big piece and annoying you that much is to either A) add some carbon pad to your filter, or B) Add some purigen to your filter which can also work for removing tannins...

yeah i'll try boiling for a week.. ive heard its more effective when you add salt when boiling.. is this true..?? they say its actually healthy for the fish that its tannin.. does this apply to african cichlids..?? because i havent seen my kenyi cichlid eat..
PS~currently i have 2 parrot fish and one kenyi cichlid..

I just added a large peice to my tank and its doing the same. I haven't noticed or encountered any problems with my Africans which include kenyi and zebra.
