Driftwood from ocean?

Is drift wood from the beach (ocean) safe for fresh tanks? I am going to the beach this weekend and was going to look for some neat wood. If properly treated is it safe?

I use wood from coastal waterways without any problem.

I would certainly do repetitive soakings in fresh water to leech out as much salt as possible before using it in a freshwater setup.

It's safe, but good luck getting it to sink. Had beachwood in my bathtub for 3 weeks before I gave up.
