Even since I got him, my baby aro has been an excellent eater. Lately, i've notice some pieces of greenish decomposing matter at the bottom of the sand.
Today when i was feeding my aro, my baby aro spit out some pellet pieces. Since it's only 2.5 inches, i feed him one hikiri aro pellet a day. I cut it into 3 pieces. I saw my baby eat 2 pellets, but on the third pellet, he spit a pile of gunk out.

Is this common? Any input for small aro keepers? Thanks

Was it gunk for sure? Or was it the pellet itself?
it seems to be decomposing pellets. Is it normal for a baby aro to cram itself in a corner when it feels frightened? When i turn on my canopy lights, it does that.

Smallest Aro I have ever owned were Silvers around 5" so this may or may not help, but the babies I had were very mood dependent.

If they were startled they wouldn't eat. I'm not sure how long babies that small can go without food though.

Do you have some floating plants in there as cover?

no. My aro is startled when i turn on the tank lights. If the tank lights are off, it just acts "normal."
