all my tanks are upstairs a 40 gallon and a 55 gallon. my gt's are in the 55 but i want to give them a bigger home. i was thinking of a 125 but the weight of that being upstairs with wood floors scares me. i want a bigger tank for them but the 75 is too short for my personal preference and the 125 is too heavy so im trying too stay under 100 us gallons btw. i saw a 90 and didnt like that one either so a 80 gallon long (im guessing) came to mind. i only saw one and cant find much about them i did manage to get their dimensions thou 72"L 13"W 20"H. would it be worth it? the reason i ask is because its still only 13" wide only an inch wider than my 55 but it has 2ft more in length and a few inches taller.

A 125 upstairs should be fine unless you have some major structural issues. Put it parallel to the joists on a load bearing wall.

How can i tell which way the joists run? And i got a quote from glasscages.com for the 80 gallon and it came out to $355 without shipping.

That's what i keep hearing but if i jump up/down for a few seconds i get 1in high waves in my 40 gallon it has been in the same place for a year and a half so i have reason to believe that a 40 gallon is weakening my floor. What do yall think of this?

Ask your LFS or local club if there are any tank makers in your area, a tank of the dimensions you're considering shouldn't be too expensive to have made as you could get away with 10mm glass [depending on exact dimensions]. Something like a 72x24x18" (LxWxH) would be perfect.
