Thought I would start a little thread about the new canister filter I got. I know there is great debate around the web about the Odyssea 500, 700 and other filters, lights made by them. I owned the CFS 700 filter for almost 2 years and loved it better than many of the other canister filters on the market today. The only reason I don't have it anymore is because I sold my 220 to upgrade to the 350 I currently have and that went with it. I'll try and make another video today or tomorrow during the day when it's lighter outside and can see better, will also get a video of it up and running. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask:

I looked at the cfs 1000, I was very tempted by the price but I was wary of them breaking down.

I have not seen many of them about...good do you rate the cfs range?

Ive used the 700, and still have a 500 and I think that they are great filters, Ive never had an issue with them. I want to try that 14i too.

So if i was looking at either an Eheim 2260 or the CFS-1000 and i had limited cash, would the CFS-1000 be ok for a while? Or should i wait to get the Eheim?

I can get the CFS-1000 for $120 and the Eheim 2260 for $500...

4d3 - The cfs is a good alternative ti an eheim for the short term. I have the 2262 on the 350 along with this filter, however I'm going to get another 2262 on it with next year's taxes. If I had to choose I would go with the 2262 all day long, however if $$ is an issue then cfs is a good substitute. I like them both myself.

Get the CFS now and then ADD the Eheim when money isn't so tight?
