I was currently given a 240 gallon plywood tank from a friend. He used an epoxy sealant, but it was done years back. Is there any issue with cleaning the current layer of paint/epoxy, and then applying a new coat of an epoxy such as sweetwater epoxy over the old one? Current pictures of the tank are attached. Any ideas or recommendations are welcome.

Cool project. Make sure to sand down the old epoxy in order to rough up the surface for the new epoxy to take hold. Check with the manufacturers of whatever product he used and what you plan on using to find out the best way to apply new layers of epoxy.

What types of interior expoxy/ paints do people recommend? The one that the tank was originally coated with was an aquapon epoxy from Pittsburgh paints. Im up for suggestions on different types of epoxy/paints. Also, how many coats should be used?
