Well today, my male jag decided to eat all of his children, kill his mate, and jump out of the tank killing himself. I have made a decision, to try another species. So I chose FESTAE. I am going to hopefully get two breeding pairs. Any suggestions?

WOW! Your Jag had a real bad day. Festeas are no joke in the rough department but after jags it will be a cakewalk 4U.

That is a really bad day. Sorry for your loss. Neither festae or jag are my kind of fish, but if I had to choose one, I would go with the festae.

Sounds like standard CA cichlid behaviour to me, maybe try guppies instead if it's not your thing? It was bad luck to have it all happen at once though! My male festae killed his mate despite having a 210g tank all to themselves. I hope you're planning a big tank (or a couple of tanks) for two breeding pairs, and keep the divider handy...
