Hello everyone. I need some advice here. I have a 125 gallon that will be pretty well stocked with native fish. They are messy, so filtration is huge. I'll be running an FX5 and one or two Penguin 350s. The problem arises with media because I plan to keep a decent amount of plants too. I will likely fertilize as I don't want CO2. I've heard carbon takes out the fertilizers though. What should I use as media? Also, I've heard with heavier bio loads that fertilizers aren't as important. Is this true? Thanks in advance.

As media only use biological and mechanical filtration. For bio, use things like bio balls, ceramic rings, and pot scrubbies. For mechanical, think of it as taking particles out of the water, so use sponges and filter pads. Biological filtration is givin benefical bacteria a place to grow on in the filter to take out toxins. Mechanical filtration is strainin out particles, like fish poop, from the water. Chemical filtration isn't necesary
