I have a chance to get some 4" silver datnoids. the only prob is I have a 50 gallon tank (48x12x21h). I know that dats are slow growers but just how long could I have 1 silver in my tank with a bunch of giant danios as dithers?

Silver dats prefer brackish water when bigger..something to think about long term as they don't do well in freshwater when they get over like 6 inches..

Ya I would avoid getting an AT, I had one, my first dat actually; around the 6-7" mark it went blind, and ended up dying soon after. Some say they have keep them in fresh water for their full life, but who knows how long that is; I had mine for about 3 years before it died.
