My country uses 220V and i purchase most of my tank supplies online. However, it is very hard to find 220 V filters. The hob's i'm interested in are the aquaclear and marineland emperor and penguin series with the bio-wheel. Does anyone know of an online source for these in 220V?

They do make 220-110 converters, which may be worthwhile.

Yeah i'm aware of transformers but i rather not use them because they use extra energy and filters run 24/7. Electricity is pretty expensive here.

Try UK/European online stores, I think their voltage is more in line with what you have.
