Today I did maintenance on my filter (eheim 2213) and when I was reattaching the lid I forgot to open both valves so the lid wasn't secure. An hour later I noticed a water level drop so I thought it just evaporated. I topped it off with new fresh water.
Now I just got out of the shower, I noticed my dad was just about to fill the filter with tap water and luckily I caught it. he told me that the lid was leaking. We now properly put the lid back on. Everything is back to normal. If nobody had seen it I think my living room would've flooding overnight.
