I have an opportunity to get a 180 for a good price. But only one hole drilled for the sump. Im wondering how everyone else filters their 180 Gals?

Ill have to ask if the one hole has appropriate intake of water for the right gph of filtering for the sump... The tank also comes with two emperor 400 hobs.

With only one hole, you can do a stand pipe for a sump with returns over the top or you can use the standpipe as a drain for a drip system and filter with canisters. 2 fx5's?

On my 180 I have a gen-x 40 pushing 2 ocean clear cartridge filters and 1 ocean clear bead filter, and a rena xp4 with a 18w uv plumbed inline.

Sorry to steal your thunder but I have a question too..

Would a 90 g sump be good to filter a 180 (2 holes drilled and 2 overflows)

Yup, more then enough.

OP, I would run the 1 hole as a drain to a sump and use 90 degree elbows to run a return over the rim of the tank.

you could close the hole up and run a canister if you want. sumps give more options and normally cost less to setup and run.

I heard somewhere that a sump should be around a quarter of the tank volume. For a 180 that would mean around 45 gallons give or take a couple gallons.
