I curently have a standard 90g tank(4 feet long) and I was thinking of getting a 4" jardini. If I just feed it pellets(hikari canivore), how long do I have till I need to get it a new tank?

You would be surprised how your 4" fish will easily take up all the room in your 90. Because these fish move around so much and require a lot of space(most people like cramming them in a 180 for life) I would say you need to upgrade your tank in a maximum of 1 year.

What size tank do you plan on keeping it in for adulthood?

Don't worry abt the tank Size if ur getting a Jardini...They grow VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY S L O W.

I bought my Jardini wen it was like 5 inch size...and even after 10 months it jsut reached the size of around 9-10inch :S
5 inch growth in 10 months? way too slow. He ate like a hog....market prawns for lunch as welll as dinner.

90g(4ft) tank is enough to house a Jardini(single piece) for 3-4 years for sure :)

Keep us updated abt ur fish.

What I find works best is to put them in a small tank (like a 55) when they are that size. Jars are pretty picky eaters and food delivery is a bit hard.. But my jar is finally about to outgrow his 55 gallon in the next 2-3 months! I have had him for about 3 months at 4-5 inches and hes a good nine to ten inches now! But I feed my jar like a queen... shrimp clean feeders blood worms crickets so its growing very well.

Id say going of past experiences of my own you'll be ok for a couple of years max then its upgrade time before your jar starts to jump and get stressed

Sounds like a runt or stunted perhaps, at 5" any aro should be growing around an inch a month if housed and fed properly. If your jardini hasn't outgrown a 4' tank in 3-4 years there's something wrong, quite possibly the tank size.

IMO you should be upgrading to a larger tank (6x2x2' at the very least) by the time it gets to 12-14", so if you base it at around an inch a month you could have around 10 months.
