So my wife wants an african tank. I want an ornate bichir. Can i do that or will the african kill the bichir. Any help would be great. Thanx in advance.

Yeah i thought about that but i could use a tube to get the food to the bottom.

Using a tube works well. I've done that to get past the giant danios. Just get a long piece of PVC and put the food through it.

When bichers are small feeding them with other fish is a challenge, but when bicher is over six inches feeding is easy in my experience because you could feed bottom feeding pellets of different varieties.:) Also offer small pieces of Tilapia, or Whiting.

Thanks guys I appreciate the info. I'm new to the cichlid game a nd I wanted to be sure that the bichirs wouldn't be the target of any aggression.

What kind of Africans we talking about? Mbuna haps or peacocks?
Hadn't gotten that far yet. I'm in the research it stage at the moment. I wanted to see if it was a good idea before I started to look at a firm stocklist. If have suggestions I would be very happy to hear them. Thanks
