I am going to look at a used Fluval Fx5 today that I could be getting a spectacular deal on. The lady says it is practically brand new and it was her (ex)husbands. I have my doubts as to whether or not I'll get to see it running because the tank it was on is torn down and she has no others, so is there anything in particular I should look for?

Make sure the connections don't leak, and turn the in and out connections full off and on to make sure they work properly other than that its a great filter.

Went and picked it up, ran. Looks practically brand new, and payed $80 for the filter, a 4' T5 light fixture, and she threw in a free API master test kit.
I'm pretty excited about it. I just bought a used 125 that I got a decent deal on as well and needed something a little bigger than my eheim 2217 + ac110 combo I was using on the 75 I'm taking down, so it worked out really well. I talked her down from 200, and I think if I hadn't brought my girlfriend with me to pick it up she would've asked me to stay for dinner
