So after reading the sticky on drop eye i have no anwsers to my questions. Any of you know why this happens or how to avoid it? Is it really inevitable that they will get this once they have achieved a certain size?
No one knows exactly why and how it happens and no ones how to prevent it or fix it. People will post their theories but none are facts. Unfortunately, it just seems like it's inevitable with silvers.
Pretty much all silver arowanas get DE. I have had 5 black arowanas over the last 10 years and not one with drop eye. I currently have 2 RTG's and I am hoping they too won't get drop eye.
So crappy. So must be why so many people have other types. For sure the silvers are an inexpensive arow but the end result seems to be a bummer. Im gonna keep it as i do like the fish and I've grown it out this far i just find this disappointing. Boohoo : (
give your fish tons of space, make sure it doesn't hit its eye/head on glass or other objects in tank. put fish by itself, avoid putting smaller fish that it will chase around. best bet, a pond.
