I have been researching for a bit and still haven't come to a definitive answer, my tank dimensions are a bit different to others, My tank size: 5ft x 3ft x 1.5ft.
I ain't interested in upgrading at all, This fish will be by himself, so if my tank isn't big enough then yea ill look else where, but yea that's my question to all you guys have/had one of these guys, thanks in advanced!

6 ft is a bare minimum in my experience. This fish will be over 2 ft long. The width is perfect.

I can't believe people would suggest a 5' long tank for a fish that has the potential to reach over 2' in length?! :duh:

They are large active fish, 6' length will be adequate until they are around 2' long, ideally you would want an 8'x30" footprint long-term. There is a big difference between surviving and thriving.

I think a 6 foot tank is minimum but your width is right on ..(assuming you are measuring LxWxH) 3feet is a lot for him to turn around as he would be doing that a lot in 5 feet of length
