Picked up this used 180 gallon from a member of a local fish forum in August . Tank has been stored outside, standing vertical on side exposed to direct sunlight. Glass appeared intact, but the external silicone seal is shot. For $100 I was willing to take a gamble, especially since this tank is going into an unfinished basement. So, with the following week off from work, I rolled up the sleeves and started, scraping, masking, siliconing, and cleaning.clk3.jpg

Had a bunch of short sections of 2X4 left over, so I decided to beef up the tank.

This is just me wig scared of 180gallons going every where! By I would add cross bracing on the back and bottom of the stand. To keep it true. And to keep it from twisting at all! But yeah looks awesome!

The reason I built the framing up the side of the frame and around the upper and lower frame of the tank is because I just wasn't sure if this tank was going to just explode or not. So, the wood actually snugly encases the tank just for extra reinforcement in case the tank fails.

Before the tank went on, it got 2 coats of polyeurethane.

Here's the first fill of the 180 after resealing
