Caught this guy from the beach in the Mississippi Sound

Pretty good fight, strong fish! It exceeded the capacity of the scale(and the tape) that I brought. I'm estimating a hair over 30 pounds, and just shy of 4 feet.
Nice catch man, dont ya just love pulling out big gar?

That's my first one, only been on the coast since July. My first catch from the beach was a bull shark, on my second day of fishing!
That's why I used the gaff!
Pretty close, a mile or less down the same beach, in saltwater. Nice redfish in the same spot as the gar.
