Or does this surface agitation look adequate?
-100 gallon tank
-flowerhorn and african cichlids
-tank in my room so dislike noisy airpump
-currently have outflow pointed up to create surface agitation.
Thanks in advance!!

Looks fine, imo you don't need one, I don't use them on any of my tanks.

It should be fine but I would put it just above the surface and points the outlets down.

Milky Way Galaxy,
I remember someone informing me on here that if you have ripples at the top of your tank your water in being oxygenated :) tank looks great! What do you plan on stocking?

Ya I heard that as well I just wanted to make sure!
And right now I have a male pearly red flowerhorn, a pleco and 7 assorted african cichlids for my FH to chase around until I find a female FH. Then they will go in another tank and this 100 gallon will become a dedicated breeder tank.

Thanks guys. And doom, I'll give that idea a try, helpfully it's not too noisy, because like I said the tank's in my room
I had it like that when I had May spray bar. It's no louder then a HOB would be

I just create surface agitation without the water splashing into the tank. Too much noise.
Just under the surface and then pointing up like you already mentioned works fine for me.
