So I'm back after not posting awhile on this forum, being really busy in the recent past and thought it's time for me to start my own topic.
So this is going to be it, My name is Flemming 20years old and living in The Netherlands. Ever since my childhood I've been passionate about fishing.
I really liked lure fishing, and catching big pikes was something I dreamed about when I was a kid.
The Netherlands is a perfect country for catching pikes, with thousands of man made canals and small rivers and lakes.
And due to strict catch and release policy, Pikes are known to grow close to 5ft in our country.
This catch and release policy also has a downside, most big pikes are difficult to catch because their are used to being caught.
U have to be an expert to lure the big boys in, especially when they are over 3feet long.
Another fish I will be targeting is Zander, closely related to the Walleye.
Zander are less common then Pike in The Netherlands, mostly due to commercial fishing and poaching.
It's an even more targeted sportfish then pike, because it tends to grow bigger in mass and is able to put up a bigger fight.
In this topic I am going to show my catches, which will mostly consist of Pike, Zander, European Perch and Eel.
My ultimate fishing goal is to catch a pike over 125cm, A zander over 95cm and a perch over 45cm.
In this topic you can follow my process trying to proceed this goal, share pictures of your catches of pike and zander and ask questions about fishing methods.
I hope everyone will enjoy reading this topic as much as I do making it.
To start off I will show my biggest catches of 2013.

I envy you for have Redfin/European perch/Zander there....at last there is a lake near us have a breeding population of zander. I don't like the average size on the yellow perch we have here :(

Holy man i was thinking the same thing! An 18 inch (45cm) perch here in the US (or in wisconsin to be more exact where im from) would be incredible!

Awesome catches! I can't wait to start chasing some pike in my nearby river this spring, but they certainly don't get that large where I live!

Show pics when you got some! What kind of lures are you using?

Red fin Perch tends to grow bigger then yellow perch, 20inch+ are rare but are caught every month using dropshot method.

I've heard that spinnerbaits catch them pretty often by me. Although I've never caught a pike, I've done a decent amount of Muskie fishing, so I may use some of my Muskie spinners for them while also using bass spinnerbaits. My biggest Muskie was about 42", here's a photo of it.ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1385496678.456199.jpg

I really gotta find this old pic of my late father, he was about 25 and is holding 2 muskies that the tails touch the floor! He was holding them at shoulder height, my guess is around 5 feet for their length.

Spinner baits w/ a worm on the hook ALWAYS work for me, for musky or pike.

Anyone ever catch a tiger pike? Thats the name we use around here for musky x pike hybrids
