Hi yargnits I cant believe in all my years of fishkeeping this is my first ray but better late than never I suppose , where abouts in manc where you picking rays up from breeder/shop ?

His disc got damaged by my curious pacu when I first put him in , pacu has been since re housed in my mates 8x2x2 with two other pacu and a loads of Oscars (he kept fighting with my jag so thought he'd prefer it over there anyway)

Thanks , any info would be appreciated as I said he's my first ray and im trying to learn as much as I can atm

Yes mate not only does it hurt like hell but produces bacterial infection that carries on doing damage after the sting eating away at flesh for a good while after , there's a good few threads on peoples stings its not pretty sight :(
The barbs can even still be poisonous once there shead if there's and of the fishes flesh present , ive got a bare bottom tank so should find them quick enough and get them out
Safe to say my hands going no where near my rays tail EVER
