I have a chance to get this guy for $100 which is a good price over here. I've only seen these for sale 2 other times in the past 7-8 years that I've been keeping fish, and they're usually $200+.
From the little info that I've found, it seems that some are freshwater and some are brackish. I found this article http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/content.php?sid=5425, but it doesn't really say anything on how to ID the species. If it's a true freshwater species, I'll go grab it, but if it's brackish, I'll pass.
Can anyone help me with an ID on this please?

Thanks.

Land of the flea and home of the whopper.
It's actually not a Catfish at all, it's a Paradise Threadfin, Polynemus paradiseus. Pretty sure they are freshwater but there are other members of the same family that are marine and can reach six feet in length. The Paradise species stays smaller, though... but make sure you can ID the species haha.
