Carib sea substrate as buffer

Im setting up a 70 and im going to move my gold ocellatus and compresscips. Ive bought 40 lbs of carib sea african cichlid mix as their substrate. My tap is usually around 7.0. Just wonder if the substrate alone would be suffecient as a buffer.

It will help but you could also place some crushed coral in a mesh bag and add to your filter. With that and the sand you should be good, stable is more important.
