Either one would last you some time. Be prepared to upgrade in the future as it grows. If it was me I would go with the 5x3. But again be prepared to upgrade.

If your gonna build a custom tank make a 10 x 4 x 2. That's what I have and I love it! Worth the $$$$

6x4 would also be pretty cool

My bigger rays are about 3.5 feet long with their tail. Sometimes i think 4' wide isnt wide enough lol

Well 4x4 and5x3 will fit down the stairs into the basement. Anything 6 feet or longer won't go around the turn. That's the reason for the dimensions. And I'm aware I could have a tank built in the basement. However I'm not living in my forever home so that's out of the question. So I guess I'll have to just biuld the pond sooner than later. I have a tank 18"x5'

120 gals will not house a pup for long, it is not just the space but the amount of mess and waste, you also need volume for stability.

The 5x3 will become small very quickly. Mine looked too big in a 6x3.5 very quickly (less than 2 yrs from a pup)
