55 gallon tank- what to add

hi all, just acquired a new 4L x 1W x 2H ft tank and need some ideas. I dont want a ton of cichlids, i just want 1 medium sized cichlid. like a Hogabooma or red terror and i know there too big but just giving you a starter point. any suggestions? thanks.:headbang2

U might be able to do a short body flowerhorn but your options are really limited with a 1 foot wide tank.

Ive always been a big fan of green terrors for a medium sized showy wet pet. They arent so aggressive so you can often keep other fish with them

you could go with two or three rainbow cichlids. use wood and plants to give each one it's own little territory. small, good personality, and responsive to their food supplier.
they'll wander around the tank giving each other attitude.
a group of larger cories (about a dozen of one or two species) should handle their warning strikes fine and pack a fair bit of personality themselves.
add some small top/mid swimmers (bosemani rainbows, hatchetfish, golden wonder killi) and you've got an active, colorful, tank.
