Are my fish healthy

I have had my daughter's aquarium going for about 2 months now. It's 10 gallons w/ 1 betta, 7 white clouds, 2 otos, and 2 plants.

I snapped some pics of the fish and some algae last night to see if anyone could give a quick evaluation of their health (appearance based).

Betta: bought him at petco (don't go there anymore). when we first got him we were out of the house and he got stuck in the drain hole in the bottom (top as it sits) of the clay pot. We came home and found him pretty stuck for who knows how long. He was bruised up and lethargic for a few weeks. I decided to put some minnows in the tank to see if the interaction would liven him up. It did. He nipped at them for about an hour and since then they have been absolutely fine together. This all took place in a 2.5 gallon tank which we got bored with very quick.

He is pretty active, doesn't mind the minnows eating near him, doesn't eat betta food but does like flakes, and does seem bored sometimes.

Minnows: They just do their own thing. They hassel each other and usually single out the smallest one. We originally had 4 but one died so I replaced him with 4 now we have 7.

Otos: I only have 2 because I it was a new tank and I didn't want to starve them. I used to put wafers in the tank but they rarely ate from them. One is significantly smaller with larger but fewer spots (don't know if there are sex differences). They stay active and occasionally do what seems like chasing the minnows. I can usually find the smaller one on the backside of the heater.

I am trying to get some plants going. I have one lilly that is slowly growing and an aponogeton which has started to develop nicely since I trimmed it down and keep the flower stalk trimmed. Trying to grow more aponogeton and some java moss. I had some store bought plants but it started to die as my canopy was not yet complete and lighting was insufficient.

I started seeing new moss like growth in a couple locations and I was wondering if I should get more otos, reduce light, or reduce my fertilizer.

Please take a look at the pics and see if there is anything I should be addressing.

I would go for a larger tank like a 20 long and I would definitely get more live plants for the betta to lounge around on and explore. Good thing you upgraded from the 2.5 gal that's only big enough for the betta. lol They look good but make sure to change 25% ok the water once a week to keep them healthy.

I wouldn't add any more fish. Algae doesn't hurt the fish. How often do you change the water and how long do you leave the lights on? Also more plants will compete with the algae. Have you tested the water? What's your nitrates at? Phosphate?

I have not tested the water. The recommended kit was rather expensive and the cheaper options, I was told are not accurate. I do about 30-40% water changes about 1.5 wks because I don't have (or use) an airstone. The bubbles splash on my lighting.

I use Aqua plus and aqueon fertilizer. The pictures show some bulbs I am trying to get to grow. They are the worthless ones from Wal-mart. I am getting ready to mail them back. The two growing plants are from Petsmart bulbs.

What is a good source of quality bulbs and moss? I tried a growing plant from petsmart but it did not do well and I took it out.

Take some water down to petsmart- pretty sure they'll test it for you... I know petco does.
I'm guessing you didn't cycle the tank if you haven't tested the water at all. If you want to be successful in this hobby, It would be worth your time to read up on cycling tanks and the nitrogen cycle. And I recommend buying the test kit so you don't have to take water to petsmart to have tested
