In about two weeks I will be getting rid of my hobs and 406, I've narrowed down my selection to the fx5 and 6, any input on these would be great, which would you choose and why?also do you think one of these would handle the load of a 120gallon, w/18" tsn, 11" red texas.11" red devil, and 12" gar?

I would like to know what's up with them too. just reading reviews so far it seems like they didn't really change much the fx6 uses less power

I'm running both there's not much difference between the two fx6 uses slightly less power (at first I thought the 6 seemed to have slightly more flow but I put that down to age my fx5 is four years older ) the 6 has extra sponges and the screw clips are easier to use with wet hands , the two dials added to the design of fx6 are manual and pretty useless imo , personally prefered the orange and grey look to the fx5

From your stock a bigger tank sounds in order but if money isn't a big issue go eheim 2262 hands down the better canister.

Fx6 isn't much better than fx5 not worth extra coin. Plus the colors were better on fx5.

I have both, I find that I like having the pump on the top of the 2262, I like the large volume and open interior without the tray design. I find with media the flow is nearly the same. But my pillow stuffing blackens faster in the eheim. I feel like it forces water through the media better. And more evenly if you use ceramic on the bottom. My fx5 runs a little louder and feels less sturdy.

Happy to hear about your future upgrade! Share some pics when you get it up

Thanks , I think I will try the eheim, I guess you misunderstood my post, I'm rehoming the tsn to my friends 240, I guess you could call it me growing it out for him, really hate to give him up , but I know its best for him.although I've been saving so hopefully in the next year I will have a 240, will the eheim handle a 240? Was thinking of adding a couple more s/a cichlids when i upgrade, what size aquarium is your 2262 on
