Looking for advice on a 90 gallon aquarium filtration. It has discus in it and it is planted. I know discus do not like alot of movement in the water. I am currently using an aquatop cf500uv for filtration. I am thinking about going with just 2 50 gallon sponge filters along with the aquaclear 10 power head with the polishing attachment hooked up to it. I have heard stories that with the sponge filters my plants might not want to grow well because of all the surface agitation. I currently only have val as far as plants go. I have thought about a refugium as well, but also hear the same complaint about the plants. I would just like to make a less stressful environment for my discus. P.S. Some key factors I should point out. I have 9 discus in there ranging from 3" to 5" in diameter, I have 4 cory cats, I have 6 rumminose, and I have 12 rasbora hets.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you!!

How about some DAY LIGHT U.V. tubes for your hood?

I agree discus don't like heavy flow, but some plants thrive on it.
I run about 500gph thru this 50 gal tank.

and (at least these species of plants) seem to do well.
