long as its not super narrow a florida gar would be happy imo w/ that size ect. I would do a trio and make it a species tank or at least only select 1-2 other tank-mates ( such as bichir) and call it a nice set-up day.

Yes, and they often do in the wild but only a handful reach 24" in captivity. the average tends to be closer to 18-20"

Yeah I agree a Florida would be good and they grow really slow I've had one for over two years now I got him when he was 4-5" now he's 14" and I feed him good

I think my tanks footprint is layed out a little wrong to house a gar of 18 Inches or over.

Its 160 x 55 x 60 Cm.

So if he grows to a size of 45 - 50 Cm.. you see the issue :D ?

It depends on what you consider OK. For me width of the tank should always be 6" bigger then the fish. Others will argue it should be the same as the fish and others will say a few inches smaller is OK. Its all personal preference and what you think is good for the fish.

I was worried about size too but I think my tank should be okay. I know I'll have some big fish in a year or so. 2 florida gars tiger oscar and 1 arowana inside a 150 gal. Let's hope I don't have to return any fish if they get too big

Not sure what the footprint is on your tank or what kind of arowanna you have, but 150 seems a bit small to house an aro for life. If it's a silver or black, they can grow 30"+ if I'm not mistaken.

It's 6' long 20in wide and 2'tall. I asked at my LFS and they told me my tank would be good for 1. It's a sliver.
