hey all, i just set up my drip system and im waiting for it to overflow so i can prime the overflow!-)

anyways, ive set the inlet at 1/2 a litre every 3 1/2 minutes... was aiming for 1/2 litre every 3m 45s... so thats about 8.5 litres an hour, 204 litres per day, 1428 litres per week....

the tank is 296 gallon (in my signature) so around 1100 litres, is this overkill??? i was planning on a 70 percent a week change but after reading some posts people seem to be running more??? im fairly heavily stocked so about right?

may post in the ray section if i get virtually no replys again??

Depending on your stock, 70% is a lot but if you are running a drip 70% is perfect. Do you have some pics of your drip and stock ?

How much do you normally change per week with a standard water change?

Or just monitor your nitrate levels. If they stay unnecessarily low and you don't want to waste the extra water turn it down a bit.

Looks like a good system! Wish I had a drain near my tank so I could do one, it would be a long hose running straight through the living room for me :(

cheers, still have to fit a float valve my friend is bringing over... its syphoning from a tank in my loft. but im at about 115% per week atm, i read that the more the better really as long as the chems are controlled... my water is good here in the uk but im running a carbon filter in the loft anyway.

i dont have a water meter here either which is good so water is free (well a set monthly bill!-)

normally 60 percent but nitrates were rising to 30-40ppm so like you say i will keep an eye on it and have a play with it.

i drilled through my floorboards then out the wall too the garden!-) if you have concrete floors its pretty easy to cut a channel out for the pipe using a 4inch grinder and a diamond blade....
