So I was wondering, for all of you who keep rays. How bad does the rays chew on the acrylic tank? Im about to pick up a brand new 180 acrylic show tank. i have kept rays before in the past, but in glass tanks. Dunno if I want to risk keeping rays if they are just going to destroy the tank.

Rays don't chew on acrylic. If you have sand, they can scratch the inside thou.

Rays need substrate and acrylic will get scratched to bits

I have had acrylic but would never get one again

A lot of tank builders will come and build a large glass tank on site

One of the advantages of acrylic people go on about so much is it's lighter than glass does that matter it's not like your going to drain it and move it around the room once per week

more than likely just a pair of motoros in a 180 acrylic. i was gonna do some sand bottom. but sounds like i will be going with a tile bottom.

I didnt have any issues with sand and rays in my old acrylic tank, but then again it wasnt perfect when I set it up. May want to reconsider tank size though because 2 motoros will outgrow a standard 180

For a 180 it's not cost effective to go acrylic

The prices only start to balance out over 300g

180 is too small for those rays in the long run anyways. Go glass and save for a bigger tank later
