I was wondering if anyone has ever done a triple 20g long stand out of wood before. I was thinking of building one myself. I've already done a simple single stand for my 29g but to save space but I was thinking of a stand for three tanks, at least the two lower would be to house 20g longs, and the top could be either a 20 or 29. With all that weight I don't mind using 4X4s or doubling 2X4s for the main support beams. Or should I just find a metal one?

2x4's will be fine, I built one similar to what you are talking about with 2x4's with no signs of stress

Now that I think about it, it's kind of a bad idea to stack so many tanks. Would be hard to do any type of maintenance. I think I'll do a double stand only.
