Have a 24" x 24" x 30" (height) tall tank, with 18 fish in it (oscars/parrots/red terrors etc). Running this tank on a Fluval 406 external canister, but water is not as clear as i want it to be. Can see fine particles floating in the water. any possible solution? thanks.

Other than removing some fish you could get two aquaclear 110's and call it a day, but if I would relocate more than half of your current stock.

It doesn't necessarily have to be an ac 110 any h.o.b. will work. Since you already have bio in your canister fill the h.o.b. with floss/batting. You can get a bag frim walmart for $4. I don't know how small the particulates are but it works for me.

I agree with king. Pillow stuffing keeps my water crystal clear on overstocked tanks with massive bioload. Dirt cheap too!

Small particles floating in the water would suggest not enough gph through the filter rather than the filter not "filtering" the water as in removing these small particles.

I recomended aquaclear 110's because its basically the best bang for your buck. Just about any other hob cannot support nearly as much mechanical media and gph rating. Just my two cents.

You do realize the oscars will barely be able to swim in that tank once full grown right? Id re-home the oscars at least
