Getting my feet wet in larger fish tanks, I bought a 50 gallon (36x18 footprint). I needed a stand and decided to go multipurpose. Built a GARF stand and skinned it with 1x4 inch plywood. Put doors in each side, some trim around the top, bottom and corners and came up with this. About $100-120 in cost-but priceless because I built it in the dead of winter, in an unheated garage in WI, with my 12 year old daughters help. :)

This is a very cool stand do you have any more photos of it being built? Right now I'm looking into building my own fish tank stand for a 30 gallon long tank that is 48 inches long and 12 inches wide. But I plan on making the stand 18 inches wide to make it more stable and to house a lot of books and glass telephone pole insulators in my room. This tank build here is almost like a mirror image of my idea expect mine would be ten inches longer.
