I made an impulse buy today...only thing I know about this fish is that it gets big and can beat up a turtle...

Oh yeah,that's some awesome footage in that doc...I had an Emperor a few years ago,I raised it on pellets and it grew to almost two feet before it died.

Supposedly they are the largest growing cichlids...2 ft is pretty large, how old was yours, did it die of old age

Yeah and they can grow bigger than that..close to three feet.Mine probably would have grown bigger if I'd had it in a bigger tank.I had it for quite a few years,at least five and it was two or three inches when I first got it.
