Not in my aquariums. Maybe for spawning, but who has room to do that?

As many people that there are that fail raising baby arowana. I would say yes, myself I raised my arowana in soft acidic water. Larger sub adult/adults will probably been fine in hard alkaline water, though hard to tell whether or not what long term effects are possible.
