So - I've always been partial to eheim. Perhaps fortunate enough to have had exceptional service from them while I have heard others have not. I love the classic canisters, am not a big fan of the Ecco design. I have the smallest of the pro 3 series (leaked early but they sent a new pump head no questions). I am seriously looking at the 1200xl. My LFS has one for $750 (ouch - NY prices). I found a 1200xlt at an LFS traveling that I could get for $425 (better - Midwest prices) and maybe online with free delivery for under $400. Online it comes up under a search for the 1200xl but the UPC code says 2080380. As far as I can tell Eheim doesn't make a 380. My biggest complaint about eheim is their product coding. Can anyone shed any light for me on what this 2080380 might be? Says it is good for tanks up to 1200l. Sounds the right size. I'll be running on a 250gal with two eheim 2217s, a small eheim pro 3 65 and a 2 gallon media filter with k1.

I'm fairly certain this model filter was previously known as the 2080 and is still sold this way on many websites. So the 1st 4 numbers in the UPC code (2080) are the previous model number.

I hate when Eheim changes model names or part numbers because they don't always reference them on their website or in their literature.

I'd leave anything that says 2080 on the shelf and walk away, no matter what additional numbers it gives. Classic can't be beat.
