There was a member that were telling me that an arapima can survive in freezing waters as long as you provide bubbler to keep the water open. I don't know if it was true and that arapima can tolerate the freezing temperatures. Your thoughts?

I think I remember that guy.Didnt he want to start some kind of arapaima farm or something?..I don't think that they could tolerate cold water temps for very long much less freezing...and I'm not going to sacrifice one to try it.

I doubt they can tolerate freezing temps since they never evolved in such low temps. Their native range annual cycle water temps drop to as low as 68F and reaches to about 82F. I would think that any temp their forced to endure outside of this range would cause physiological stress on osmotic properties, immunity, hormone production, and amino acids effectiveness.

Ok thank you, I tried to research on arapima's cold tolerance but cannot find anything. I don't think they can survive in freezing waters.
