Any pros have any ideas on what this Maculicauda is? Has a lot of blues and red, high aggression but kept in check by my larger Jag. About 7 1/2- 8" SL. I know males have a larger head but not sure when that occurs and if that's more like amphilophus as they become more dominant. Thanks!

I would say female based on pics #2 & 4. The forehead and overall body don't appear steep enough to be male. However, I've seen sub-dominate male vieja exhibit the same body shape - venting is really the only way to tell for sure. Great color on that fish either way.
