Hello folks. Just a heads up, this is going to be a slow moving post. But, if I don't start writing now then I never will.

I will be building 2 outdoor aquariums. 1 at 240 gallons (construction underway) and 1 at over 1,500 gallons (if all goes well on the first one).

240 will temporarily house my Oscars, arowana, and company until the 1500 is done. Then I'll set it up with African cichlids.

Advice and feedback welcome along the way.

I am attaching the partially concreted 240 gallon. Its a wood and metal shell, will be covered in concrete, then stucco, then pond paint. Used leftover glass from another project and a leftover pool filter.

Still learning to use the app, so forgive me if I'm not doing this right.

Attached is a photo of the site for the future 16 foot long, 1500 gallon, which will have waterfall into a 6x8x24 pond.

Sounds cool so far. Can we get a pic or 2 of your fish right now? Keep us updated

Sure. All juvies in a temporary setting (27 gallons). Will have 240 running in a couple of months. Here in Costa Rica, you have to buy the fish as you run across them. Most are imported (1 shipment per month, to supply all stores in whole country). That being said, I know their temp home is small. :)

I built this tank too, though by no means a "monster"

OK. Inside of tank is covered in concrete and stucco. Gotta let it dry for 3 weeks before I seal with pool paint. 240 gallon tank. Less than $100 invested so far, since mostly made of leftover materials.

It has its perks -- you don't have to heat tanks. However, on the down side, it can be VERY hard to find certain fish species. Took me 7 months and visiting around 40 stores to find a silver arowana...
