Dithers for small to medium CA cichlids

Currently have 6 buenos aires tetras in a 60 gallon with 4 small to medium cichlids. Have 3 silver dollars in another 55 gallon with more small cichlids. Have all been successful so far. Petsmart has a sale on white finned rosy tetras for 50 cents each. Anyone have experience using these guys as dithers with cichlids? I'm thinking about picking up 5.

Female salvini 3.5 inches
Male convict 5 inches
Female blue acara 3.5 inches
Female Nicaraguan 4 inches

55 gallon
Two 2.5 inch salvini, one male one female. Not paired up

The buenos aires are in the 60. Was thinking of trying out these guys in the 55.
