I have recently added a Dat to my collection and I will say I am new to Dats. Any way he is rubbing on the wood in the tank. I have checked him out several times and I can't find a mark or a spot or anything that would tell me he is sick. He appears to be healthy other than the rubbing. He swims around, eats a little but not a lot. Any thoughts or recommendations. As I mentioned I just got him within the past week and he is about 3".

Sounds like the dat is being annoyed by parasites and is trying to remove them.

If its only been a week it may not be eating well just because its still settling in. If its only flicking a little bit and the other tankmates aren't showing any signs of illness I personally wouldn't be too worried. If the dat is doing it a lot or the other fish are flicking off objects as well, as krich said, I'd say it could be parasites.

it must be normal because he has settled in and has pretty much stopped rubbing.

For no reason whatsoever?...People say its normal because so many dats do it.Its not like they are cats rubbing against a tree.
