I want to do a heavily planted tank and the only way it will hold up long term is if I go dirted. I want them to have plenty of nutrients in the soil. Question is what kind of dirt do I use. At my local 99 cent store they have "all organic potting mix" with none of those white things just curious what dirt should I get.... I'm new to the dirt thing

This is the one I was talking about the second pic is the ingredients and I have miracle grow however it is only called potting mix not organic. Is the brand shown in the pictures safe?

I'm new to planted tanks myself, which is why I clicked into this link.

However, I would like to say that I feel that what you've found is probably the right thing. It doesn't have organic in the name, but it does say it in the middle of the front panel.

I know nothing about dirt in the aquarium, but as far as safety...I would guess if its recommended for vegetables (human safe) then it should be ok for fish.

im not sure on the brand, looks safe, but a quick trip to your local Homedepot or Lowes and 6 bucks on the Miracle Grow organic will save you a bunch of headaches in the future
You know what you're right I will go get the miracle grow organic.... It's going into a 5 gallon tank and if I did choose the wrong soil water parameters might be uncontrollable in such a tiny tank
