Im looking into getting a 120g and was wondering if the stand pictured will work for it. And what would be a good stocking plan? The stamd has 3 stacks of 3 cinder blocks with a tabletop on top.

I would be afraid of the fact there is no support for side to side movement. With the blocks just stacked like that, a good bump and it might go. I would probably just build one out of wood so that you can get it braced properly so you dont have any issues. I guess I worry more about it because we have had minor shakes and it is believed 'the big one' will hit us one day. So I think a bit more about earthquake related incidents.

I have a 125, and I wouldn't get another one. It's nice and long, but it's only 18 inches wide. So, for 6-12 inch fish, it doesn't house much more fish than an 75...know what i mean? I really wish I'd gotten a 180, 220 or 240. I didn't really stop to think that width is more important than length.

Ya good point i think the 120 is a full 2 ft wide but i dont think there are really many fish that will make it worth it

If you don't plan to house any fish over 16 inches, a 120 from a 75 is a pretty nice upgrade. 2 foot longer is nice.

I wouldn't trust that stand holding my beer nevermind 1000lbs of expensive aquarium. as stated a small bump or if the water started moving side to side or almost anything could knock that over. cinderblocks maybe, but patio blocks(looks like that's whats pictured) stacked on their side... I cant tell you what to do but it would make me a nervous wreck

I'll tell ya why I say that. I had an 8 inch fish get sick, he dug a big hole in the middle of the tank under a stump. That hole, plus the 8 inch fish in it, effectively cut off a third of the tank's length for the rest of the fish. The tank wasn't wide enough for the others to squeeze past his little territory without him coming out and beatin on em. If a 10-12 inch fish did that in an 18 inch wide tank it'd have been worse. That's when I started wanting a wider tank.

I personally wouldn't trust that stand. I upgraded from a 75 to a 120. It was well worth it for me. The extra width and water volume give you a lot more options than a 75. The difference between a 120 and a 125 all depends on the stock you plan to keep and the space you have in the room you plan to keep the tank in.

I'm missing something. I have a 125, my son has 75. They're both 18 inches wide.
