Is it leaking from the hose or from the plastic itself. I had one that the threads twisted off

The j tube needed to be tightened after calling big als they helped me out. The guy said that eheim used to ship them tightened which caused them to sometime break during shipment. Now they ship them lose. I guess I accidentally lossened it more. A couple of turns and it stopped.

I have a question about turning it off say your doing a wc and tou wanna turn it off do u unplug it then close the taps or just unplug it?

Yeah but say I dont wanna disconnect the filter I just wanna shut it off because of doing water changes... wouldn't air get into lines/canister if the water level gets lower than the intake tube and the tap is open ?

^ Yep.Thats why I said close the taps, then unplug it. When you refill, plug it back in, re-open the taps and you are good to go. You may have a few air bubbles coming out, completely normal, goes away in a few minutes. Been using these filters for 25 years, never a problem.

Does it matter what tap you close first ? And open first ?
