so I have a 200g with a 75g refugium/sump. the water level is right around 1/2' from the top of the tank.. if I add another overflow, will it help lower the water level?

when I shut off the pump water level drops 1/2". it is a custom overflow box with a diy overflow. u think I need to drill more holes into the overflow box for more water to flow into the sump?

well you just need to lower where the water comes in, this determines the height of the water in the tank.

Thanks guys! The water fills up about 85% of the tank when the power is out. The water level now is around 1.5" below the top of the tank. And the return is right above the water, so when power goes out, only about 25 gallons flows back down to the sump.
